Social Responsibility

Although creating jobs may not seem like a goal for a healing center, here at MASH we strongly support employing people at fair wages.

MASHnorth has a salary ratio of one. That is, everybody earns the same hourly wage, within the MASH community or tribe. The minimum wage, or the livable wage as it is often called, is now the "spiritual wage." The goal of MASHnorth is to pay a spiritual wage of $25/hour to all of its staff. This spiritual wage allows a person to work 20 hours per week and earn $25,000 per year. If two people in a partnership work a total of 40 hours per week, they would earn $50,000 per year.

The expectation is that an individual working for mashnorth 20 hours per week would have adequate time for a) family responsibilities, b) community involvement, and c) their own spiritual development including physical exercise or re-creation of themselves. This is the spiritual, communal and tribal social mission of MASH.

Thus, each $25 contribution to MASHnorth buys one hour of time from anybody on the MASHnorth team.
